How to Disable Windows Live Messenger

When Windows Live Messenger is automatically installed by Windows you may want to still have it on your computer but disable it and stop it working for the time being.














You can use the steps below to learn how to disable Windows Live Messenger.

  1. Open the Start menu and click on Run.

  2. In the command box enter "services.msc".

  3. Click the Ok button.

  4. Find Windows Live Messenger in the list it gives you and double click it.

  5. When it asks for the Startup type change it to Disabled.

  6. Click on the stop button.
