How to Change a Hotmail Password

You usually need to change your password when you have either forgotten it or want to change it so that only you have access to it.

Hotmail can be accessed from anywhere and from anyone's computer. Making sure you keep your password to yourself is the best way of stopping anyone else getting into your account. Updating your password regularly can also help.

To change your Hotmail password use these steps:

  1. Login to your Hotmail account
  2. Once you login on the top right hand side of the page will be your name. Click on your name and then from the dropdown list select Account.
  3. Hotmail will ask you to re-signin to confirm your identity.
  4. Your account information will now be listed. Your password will be in stars and off to the right you can click Change.
  5. Enter in your old password and new password and click Save. Your password will now have been updated.

For extra security when you are changing your password you can choose to make it expire every 72 days. This means that Hotmail will force you to change your password every 72 days.
